Topic 4 : Review of Hai Phong Street Food Tour

Hello everyone. This is my 4th blog. Last Tet holiday, my friend and I had a 2-day 1-night food tour of Hai Phong. We tried most of the dishes on the food tour map, but I will review for you the 3 dishes we liked the most on this food tour.

We live in Hai Duong, very close to Hai Phong and we are also people who like freedom and adventure so we decided to move to Hai Phong by motorbike. We took Highway 5A so it only took us 2 hours to get there. We booked a room for 4 people with a balcony at Hoang Tuyet Guesthouse, 700,000 VND per night, the service and amenities here are very good, recommend it to everyone.

After that we started our foodtour, we followed the foodtour map so we tried all the delicious dishes here but I will review for you the 3 most impressive dishes. First is Hai Phong crab rice cake. We ate at 48 Lach Tray - Ngo Quyen, but the restaurant only opens in the afternoon and is quite crowded, so if you want to try it, you should go early. In return, the owner and staff here are very friendly. The broth here is light and fragrant with crab flavor, and the red crab cake is not too soft. There are many types of toppings here from lolot leaf rolls, meatballs, shrimp, wood, fish cakes, meat,... and raw vegetables served with it. You can order more stir-fry for more flavor.

The second dish is Crab Nem at 92 Tran Nhat Duat, Cau Dat, Ngo Quyen, Hai Phong, priced around 30,000 VND - 100,000 VND. It's open here from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., so people can try it at any time. The service staff is very fast and enthusiastic, and the spring rolls are big and full of filling. Inside are chicken eggs, meat, shrimp, crab, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, and other fruits and vegetables. Lots of ingredients but rich flavor and very easy to eat. Crab spring rolls are great to eat with available raw vegetables or you can order more vermicelli to eat with it, but I think eating a few spring rolls will be very filling.

The last dish is pickled coconut sweet soup. Coming to Hai Phong, you definitely cannot miss this dish, a dish that was once a hot hit among young people. I recommend everyone to eat at 100/124 Lach Tray, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong, Ms. Tuyet's sweet soup shop. The price is only about 25-30,000 VND per cup, so it's worth trying. In addition to the traditional coconut flavor combining rich coconut milk with coconut jelly and white pearls, there are also new flavors. The combination of the bitter aroma of coffee, the sweetness of chocolate, and the fatty taste of young coconut creates a very special flavor. If you have the opportunity to come to Hai Phong, remember to try both flavors.

In short, our food tour to Hai Phong was quite successful. If you come to Hai Phong and don't know what to eat, you can try the 3 dishes I introduced. In addition, you can also eat according to the food tour menu given. Bye, see you all in the next blog.
